Mike played a key role in helping JADD grow and develop

Michael (Mike) Brown, who sadly passed away peacefully in Cavan General Hospital on January 13, was the Finance Director of Johnson & Johnson, Tallaght for over 30 years and was a long-term colleague at J&J of Jobstown Assisting Drug Dependency’s (JADD) chair, Tom O’Connell.

Mike was a native of Huddersfield and an avid supporter of Huddersfield Town AFC - although he claimed he always cheered for Ireland over England!

Mike, his wife Helen and their children lived in Stillorgan in the 1960’s to 1990’s and they retired to Virginia, Cavan from where Helen hailed.

They enjoyed extended family holidays in Portugal where the kids, their partners and grandkids would join them.

On his retirement from J&J Mike joined Tom on JADD’s Board as Director/Co. Secretary, bringing his finance expertise to install a highly professional suite of financial procedures and controls.

Mike’s vast knowledge of finance and governance procedures and his business acumen contributed hugely to the success of JADD in providing service users wishing to return to a drug-free lifestyle, the opportunity for a free, quality, holistic, drug rehabilitation service.

Mike brought a strong Financial Management discipline and his strategic strength enabled JADD to build and finance a progressive Strategic Plan and to guide and enable the team at JADD to grow and develop, providing its much needed and admired service to the Jobstown and the Greater Tallaght community.

Mike was generous with his time and expertise for 19 years as a non-executive Director with JADD between 2001-2020 for which the Board, Management and staff at JADD remain extremely grateful.

He was a very steady hand at the rudder for JADD – may he Rest In Peace.
