Moyler U15 soccer team enjoy super season

WHAT a year for Moyle Park College Under 15 soccer team.

The Clondalkin school won the West Dublin League, the Leinster Champions League, the Leinster Cup and the All-Ireland National Cup Final.

The school are also awaiting an All-Dublin Final against Oatlands College. All of this was achieved by scoring 86 goals and conceding only 15.

The season began in breathtaking style when they beat St Aidan’s, Tallaght in a big win in the Leinster Cup first round.

They then switched attention to the league and recorded a 7-1 win against Hartstown CS before the dispatching of Templeogue in a 5-0 win.

To finish off the league group campaign, Moyler enjoyed another big victory over Tallaght CS.

The school returned to knock-out football in the Leinster Cup and beat Coláiste Eanna 6-1 to set up a tie against Salesians College in which they won 2-1.

Celebrating with the All-Ireland Cup

Round Four of the Leinster Cup gave a mouthwatering draw against Naas CBS but once more, despite tough conditions, Moyle Park ground out a 3-2 against opposition with fair claims to win the competition.

The business end of the season began at this point and a West Dublin/Leinster Champions League playoff was due against Kingswood.

Yet again, Moyle Park rose to the challenge and won 1-0 to progress to the final of the West Dublin and march into the Champions League.

The first silverware of the season was secured with a 2-0 win against Hartstown as captain Tadgh Prizeman lifted the West Dublin title.

More knockout football was fast approaching and a 5-2 against Scoil Mhuire sent the team into the sixth round of the Leinster Cup.

In the Champions League quarter final, they beat Coláiste Choilm in a convincing 4-1 win to set up yet another tie against Scoil Mhuire who we beat yet again, this time by 2 goals to 1 to secure a place in the Leinster Champions League decider.

An epic rematch against Kingswood in the Leinster Cup saw Moyler run out 3-2 victors to reach the final for the first time in 53 years.

The Leinster Champions League final saw Moyler win in style with a 4-0 scoreline against De La Salle Dundalk and just days later they became double Leinster Champions to add to our West Dublin title when we beat Ardgillan 2-0.

A smashing 2-0 win against Tralee CBS in the All-Ireland semi-final thanks to goals from David Ngesi and Max Ellis set up a historic All-Ireland Final against St Eunans of Letterkenny in Athlone.

The match finished 4-2 thanks to goals from Alex Snow, David Ngesi (2) and Desmond Armstrong to crown Moyle Park the 2024 Minor All-Ireland National Cup Champions.

This has never been done in the history of Moyle Park and indeed, the FAI as they did so with an incredible 18 wins out of 18.

It would be hard to name a player of the season given the year they’ve had but they were always in safe hands with Elliot Homan and Roan McGrath in goal who were defended superbly by a combination of David Onwuzulumba, Tadgh Prizeman, Matas Mockus, Ayo Taiwo, Jamie Byrne, Mayson Bridgeman, Zach Healy and Jakub Owsianka.

Further up the field, the work of Jack Salinger, Corey Higgins, Alex Snow, Preston Gaynor and Charlie Quinn cannot be applauded highly enough.

Up front, David Ngesi, Kesther Efe, Max Ellis, Dylan Taylor and Desmond Armstrong got the goals that have led to such an incredible season.

The side was managed by Mr Condren and Mr Kerins.
