New low cost counselling service established by Tallaght psychotherapist

A NEW low cost counselling service has been started by a Tallaght local, who believes looking after your mental health is an investment in the future.

Growing up in Aylesbury, Triona McGearty is offering accessible and affordable counselling services and works alongside clients using a range of psychodynamic approaches.

Triona can, for example, help people with anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma, anger, addiction, grief, relationship issues or health related or behavioural issues.

Adopting a ‘solution focused’ approach, Triona works together with her clients in a safe space, creating a space where ‘clients can talk abut and explore challenges’ they may be facing.

“It is my hope that we can work together to allow you to develop and recognise your own potential and in doing so create a space for change and growth”, Triona said.

She added: “It is important to look after your physical health, but equally important to take care of your mental health.

“Looking after your mental health is an investment in your future, giving yourself space and time to reflect on what may be affecting your life and exploring these challenges can be a life changing and often powerful experience.

“A psychotherapist is not there to tell you how to be or what you need to change.

“In a therapy room you are the expert. The therapist is there to be beside you, with you, in your journey.

“Physical health is so popular at the moment, building strength, improving muscle tone, and overall physical wellbeing.

“If mental health was approached in the same way, the work a client does with a therapist is akin to strengthening muscles, locating muscles you didn’t know you had and in some cases building new muscles to support your overall wellbeing.”
