New president for Lucan Lions Club

LUCAN Lions Club held its final meeting for the 2023/2024 term in the Lucan Spa Hotel, during which the chains of office were presented to incoming president Gerry Ennis.

At the meeting, outgoing Lucan Lions President Ray Barnes presented the chain of office to Mr Ennis, and wished him a successful year in the role.

Lucan Lions also expressed thanks to all their “loyal sponsors, supporters and volunteers” for their help during the year.

Meanwhile, the President’s Award for 2024 went to Paddy’s Barbers, Lucan, in recognition of 60 years of service to the Lucan Community.

Established by Paddy Monaghan in 1964, the business is proudly carried on by his three sons David, Philip and Alan. David and Philip were there to receive the award on the night.

Lucan Lions also praised Lucan Tidy Towns Committee for the hard work they have been doing in preparation for the 2024 competition.

“They have done a fantastic job painting the bridge at the Weir and have made so many enhancements around the village,” said the group.

Club membership in the Lions is around 16 people, who volunteer their time and talents to help others.

Anyone interested in joining Lucan Lions, they meet in the Spa Hotel on the second Tuesday of each month at 8pm.
