New role in a philanthropic foundation beckons for the CEO of An Cosán

THE CEO of An Cosán, Maura McMahon, for almost two years, has stepped down to take up a post abroad.
She will be replaced by Liz Waters, who previously served as CEO until January 2015, when she stepped down to develop digital technology for the Tallaght-based community education group.
According to Ms Waters, Maura McMahon has been offered a post in a philanthropic foundation for African countries.
Mahon, originally from Canada, was previously a board member for charity sector network, The Wheel.
Ms Waters said: “Maura gave us wonderful leadership. She has done a wonderful job and has a very strategic and strong commitment to education.
“She was offered a once-in-lifetime opportunity and we’re fully supportive.”
Ms Waters said she was excited to resume the role of CEO, which she said Ms McMahon had transformed into ‘a new job’ during her tenure.
Ms Waters said: “I stepped aside to develop An Cosán Virtual Community College (VCC).”
Ms Waters said the social enterprise will blend new digital technologies in e-learning with face-to-face learning across their colleges in areas classed as disadvantaged.
She also announced that Anne Genockey has been appointed as Chief Operations Officer.
