
No evidence to suggest any particular area is targeted by burglars

THERE were 19 burglaries in Lucan in July as opposed to 12 the previous year, The Echo can reveal.
Following a request, the Garda Press Office compiled figures for the number of burglaries in the Lucan and Ronanstown sub-districts for the last five months and for the corresponding months in 2018.
Burglaries in Lucan nearly doubled in April of this year with 32
So far in July, there were 16 burglaries in Ronanstown and 14 in July 2018. In June 2019, there were 18 burglaries in Lucan and 18 in June 2018. In Ronanstown there were 19 in June 2019 and 11 in June 2018. There were 16 in Lucan in May 2019 but 17 in May 2018. While in Ronanstown there were 11 in May 2019 but 15 in May 2018.
Burglaries in Lucan nearly doubled in April of this year with 32, up from eight in April 2018. Conversely there were five in Ronanstown in April but 13 in April 2018.
In March there were 17 in Lucan and 11 in Lucan 2018. While in Ronanstown there were 14 burglaries in March but 16 in March 2018.
In total for the last five months there have been 102 burglaries in the Lucan sub-district and 65 in the Ronanstown Sub-District as opposed to 66 in Lucan and 69 in Ronanstown in the corresponding months in 2018.
A Garda spokesman told The Echo: “As can be seen from the figures there has been an increase in Lucan Sub-District and a slight reduction in Ronanstown Sub-District.
There is no evidence to suggest that Lucan is being targeted specifically by burglars or that there is a particular gang targeting Lucan.”
