No social housing for Lucan
By Echo Reporter
NO SOCIAL HOUSING will be built in the Lucan electoral area over the next 12 months. The news came in a reply to a question asked by Councillor Paul Gogarty at this month’s Lucan Area Committee meeting of South Dublin County Council.
Cllr Gogarty asked the Chief Executive “to provide a report on any social or affordable housing units that will be provided in the Lucan Electoral Area or in bordering areas such as Balgaddy in the coming 12 months and to outline locations and plans for any emergency modular accomodation in the same locations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.”
The council spokesperson replied that no social housing units will be constructed in the Lucan Electoral Area within 12 months.
They added: “There is currently no affordable housing scheme in the country. Regarding Part V, the only development we are aware of for the Lucan electoral Area is in Tullyhall Lucan where it is proposed to build 59 units.
“Our Part V requirement is 6 and we are currently waiting on the developer to supply costings and confirm his development schedule.”
