Noisy manhole cover causing sleepless nights for residents
At the Lucan/Palmerstown/North Clondalkin area committee meeting Cllr Gogarty raised other issues in relation to the Adamstown SDZ.
These issues included the delays in some of the retail outlets opening at The Crossings, the delay in the C2 bus going behind LIDL, a noisy manhole cover outside 47 Shackleton Drive, which is causing sleepless nights to residents, and traffic signalling issues including on the Celbridge link road past Holwell.
In response, the Manager said he would take away Cllr Gogarty’s issues including the bus-route and the traffic signalling issues and will talk to his colleagues in the transportation section and try to get answers from the developers and the National Transport Authority (NTA).
The manager also confirmed that the Council has raised the issue of the noisy manhole cover with Cairn Homes, who have committed to looking at it, and to come back to the Manager, who will circulate the response when he gets it.
He confirmed that the Council have updates on the retail openings at the crossings, that there was a slip on the Plaza programme and that that had knock on impacts.
He has asked the developer to forward a list as to the general land-use mix that has expressed an interest coming forward, to have that for the March update meeting, which is scheduled for March 6th.
Councillor Liona O’Toole (Ind) supported the motion and said that she was concerned that an Bord Pleanála had not come to a decision regarding the proposed amendment by the SDCC to the Planning Scheme, which was due for determination in June 2023.
In its report to Cllr Gogarty’s motion, the Council state that approximately 4,200 homes are now completed/occupied, and approximately 800 are under construction as of Q3 2023.
The report also states that Adamstown District Centre Plaza is now open with Airlie Park having opened last November.
The latter facility provides several facilities for residents, including a cricket pitch, tennis courts, a basketball court, full size astro turf and a pavilion café, in addition to several play and seating areas.
The proposed health centre, which has planning permission for a change of use from marketing suite to health centre, according to the report, is proposed to be located at 1 Adamstown Boulevard, the former marketing suite in Adamstown.
Cllr Gogarty in response to the report also raised concerns regarding baby-changing facilities in the toilet in the café and also high chairs.
By way of response to the comments of the Manager, Cllr Gogarty said the issue of the C2 bus-route would be an important one for the March meeting.
He also hoped that there would be a broader discussion then.
He felt that because of the time slippage some of the issues were dragging on for a while so he thought they needed a mention and so that was why he put down the motion.
