Oblate Under 18s still motoring
WHILE they did come undone against DCU Mercy in the Dublin Cup Final earlier in the month, Oblate Dynamos Under 18s still have a lot to play for this season.
The Drimnagh side, under coach Claire Kiernan, will be targeting a top-four finish in the Under 18A League in which they have three remaining games that see them face off against Liffey Celtics, Dunshaughlin and Portlaoise.
What’s more they are also into the National Shield Final where they will come up against UL Huskies in the Oblate Hall on Sunday, April 2.
After just missing out on qualifi-cation from their group in the Nation- al Cup, the team entered the Shield competition where they beat Tolka Rovers to secure a place in the final.
The team boasts a lot of quality players including Irish internationals Mae Creane and Rachel Moore, as well as Dublin panellists Ellie Thornton, Claire Quinn Nealon, Laura Kiernan and Ellen Hughes.
What’s more, both Quinn Nealon and Reanne Devlin were part of the Loreto Crumlin Under 19B Girls outfit that enjoyed All-Ireland Schools Cup success back in January.
Delighted with the performance of her team so far, Oblate coach Claire Kiernan said: “This Oblate team has worked hard all season and the girls’ determination and positive spirit has helped develop them as players and colleagues alike.
“They are a terrific group and a credit to themselves. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them,” she added.
