Owners of Horse and Jockey lodge new plans

PLANS to demolish the fire-damaged former Horse and Jockey pub in Inchicore and two adjoining buildings, and develop apartments, have been lodged with Dublin City Council.
Wingthorpe Ltd, who list co-owner of the Horse and Jockey Ann McManus as one of their directors, have submitted plans for a mixed-use development containing 19 apartments and a commercial/office at ground level.
The applicant is seeking the demolition of the former public house at 105 and 107 Emmet Road, a two-storey dwelling at 109 and 111 Emmet Road and a single-storey motorcycle workshop at 99 Emmet Road.
Plans contain proposals for the construction of residential commercial development, ranging in height from two to four storeys.
The part four-storey contains a penthouse level set back from main façades at third-floor level. The residential/commercial development is in two separate blocks, comprising five one- bed apartments, nine two-bed apartments, five three-bed apartments, and a commercial/office unit at ground floor level.
Plans also contain proposals for a bicycle store, individual storage facilities at basement level, and 18 car-park spaces at basement and lower ground-floor level.
In 2014, plans by the Horse and Jockey owners to develop accommodation for 44 students at the site were rejected by DCC.
In May 2005, 11 people were left homeless following a fire, that destroyed the former Horse and Jockey building.
Authorities believe the blaze started in an unoccupied flat above the pub – destroying apartments and leaving all of the occupants homeless.
A more recent fire occurred at the building in 2016, during which nobody was injured.
The latest mixed-use plans were lodged with DCC on August 23, and a decision has yet to be made by council planners.
