Parenting course promotes positive relations in families
A FREE course that equips parents with the skills to effectively communicate with children aged 11 years to 14 is starting in Tallaght this week.
Delivered by Parents Plus, the adolescent programme is an evidence-based parenting course that promotes effective communication and positive relations in families with adolescents.
The eight-week course, which runs once a week from January 24 to March 21, will facilitate parent-to-parent support while covering topics such as conflict resolution, listening skills, anger management, education support and maintaining relations as children become teenagers.
It will also look at the issues facing young people in their lives, and signpost parents to community services and supports available.
The course will take place every Wednesday morning, starting January 24, from 10am to 12.30pm.
The course will be facilitated by Irene Quinn, from Crosscare Teen Counselling, and Jacqueline Smith from Crosscare Youth Services.
Parents Plus, which is delivering the course, is an Irish charity that develops “practical, evidence-based” parenting and mental health programmes.
