Parents raise issues over lack of toilet facilities
By Mary Dennehy
SOUTH Dublin County Council is “examining” site options for the location of a second set of public toilets in Tymon Park, with no facilities currently available at the Tallaght-end of the flagship park.
In recent times, a number of parents have raised issues around the lack of toilet facilities at the Tallaght-end of Tymon Park, which has a public toilet facility at the Willington-end.

To walk from the Tallaght-end to the Willington-side takes a good 20 minutes, and that’s walking without little ones in tow.
In early summer 2017, the new, and long awaited, playground at the Tallaght-end of Tymon Park swung into action – which has attracted a lot more families into the area.
The playground, and its nearby fairy trail, forest walks and duck ponds, provides a top-class, easily accessible location for families, especially during warm weather.
However, visitors, especially those with young children, have been left in the lurch when nature calls due to a lack of toilet facilities in the area – with some parents forced to bring their children into the bushes when needs must.
When contacted by The Echo last week, Teresa Walsh Director of Environment, Water and Climate Change, confirmed that there are public toilets located at the Willington end of Tymon Park.
However, Ms Walsh added that the council is “currently examining site options for locating a second set of public toilets in Tymon Park.”
