Pat (96) is queen of Tymon Park
By Maurice Garvey
THE ‘Queen of Tymon Park’ was honored by park rangers and residents last Monday, for her zest for life and love of the local amenity, reports Maurice Garvey.
Pat Byrne (96), a Greentrees Road resident, goes to the local park almost every day of the year.
“She’s a bit of a legend, everyone knows her in the estate,” said Greenhills resident Cecil Looney.
“She was playing basketball and training local kids in the area, whilst she was in her 50’s, and could ‘whip’ lads in the table tennis.
“Everytime she goes to the park, she feeds the dogs, from tit bits in her handbag. We were hoping they would name one of the new park benches after her, because she’s just blooming great.
“Around here, she is known as the Queen of Tymon Park. Pat is a lesson to us all, someone who has got the best out of life, and it is nice that we can celebrate her now.”
