Peamount to face leaders in crunch WNL clash
PEAMOUNT United welcome defending National Women’s League champions Wexford Youths to Greenogue this Saturday evening for a match that could go a long way to determining the destination of this year’s title.
The Newcastle side are four points off the holders, although that could well be reduced to one should they be awarded the points for last week’s scheduled match against Kilkenny for which the current table props were unable to field a team.

And, given that, victory this weekend would see James O’Callaghan’s side overtake at the top.
A 2-2 draw was the result from the last encounter between Peamount and Wexford, with the Dubliners battling their way back from two goals down at the break.
Having brought in a number of top quality players, O’Callaghan has been pleased at how his side has been performing this season saying, “I’m really happy with the way in which we’re progressing. The girls are really working hard and putting in very good performances.
“Wexford are unbeaten and the defending champions, so it’s going to be a tough game, but it’s one we’re looking forward to.
“We played the Peamount Under 18 boys team and that was a good warm-up for this test,” he added.
Peamount may well be coming into this match minus the services of captain Louise Corrigan who continues to nurse an ankle injury she picked up a couple of weeks ago.
MEANWHILE, another of the National League title contenders, Shelbourne are due to take on fourth place Cork City the following day.
