Planning permission duration extension is granted to school

PERMISSION has been granted to Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School on Mourne Road in Drimnagh for an extension to the duration of planning permission for a prefab in the school grounds.

The temporary structure currently houses the school ASD unit and is described as a single-storey, flat-roofed, detached building.

The prefab accommodates one classroom, a multi-sensory room, a safe room, a storeroom, a staff room and two toilets.

The existing temporary building is located within the existing yard of the school adjacent to the existing boiler house and the existing entrance gate opening from Knocknarea Road.

The school received planning permission for the structure for five years in 2018, and the school’s board of management has now been granted a five-year extension to the grant of planning permission.

Dublin City Council decided to grant the extension on August 9, stating that “this planning permission is granted for a limited period of five years from the date of this grant.”

After that date, the planning permission will lapse, and the structures will need to be removed and the land returned to its former state unless a further permission has been granted.
