Planning thumbs-down for family entertainment centre

CPZ2 Limited has been refused planning permission by South Dublin County Council for partial change of use of existing light industrial unit to provide a recreation facility/family entertainment centre.

Permission was also sought for the removal of the existing roller shutter door, which is located along the front elevation, and the insertion of a glazed unit incorporating double pedestrian doors at ground-floor level with windows at first-floor level.

Internal modifications, to include reception area, play school, revised toilet arrangements, kitchen/servery and all ancillary spaces pertinent to that of a family entertainment centre, were to be located at ground-floor level, while an office space/storage area was to be located at mezzanine level.

The application included plans for a revised pedestrian escape-door arrangement along the side elevation of the building, and for an enclosed secure bin store to be located to the front of the building.

Provision was included for connection to all existing mains services on-site and all associated development works on their site at Unit 67, Cherry Orchard Industrial Estate, Ballyfermot Road, Dublin 10.

South Dublin County Council refused permission for the proposed family entertainment centre last month, citing “a significant underprovision of car-parking spaces” that would result in “dangerous or illegal practices” on the adjoining local road.
