Planning underway for Lucan Festival
PLANNING has been underway for Lucan Festival 2023 for a while now, reports Maurice Garvey.
The community-based festival will take place between September 5 -10 and provides an opportunity for groups and cultures all over Lucan to meet and celebrate.
Organisers hope that in these challenging times, the festival could help generate additional revenue for traders in Lucan.
Currently, organisers are speaking to business, sporting, and recreational groups in the greater Lucan regarding their participation and they hope this will provide a “better opportunity for the ethnic minority community” to engage with the wider community.
The festival will feature historic walks/tours, a Lucan’s got talent show, performances of local choirs, and an exhibition of local artists and street performers.
The festival is planned to coincide with the open day at Lucan Garda Station.
The Garda Band will perform, an afternoon concert adjacent to the station at 2pm.
The Lucan Festival committee, say they need lots of volunteers to assist at events.
Meanwhile, applications are now open for this year’s food stall holders.
Lucan Festival Family Fun Day will take place on Sunday, September 10.
The festival committee will issue applicants with an approval number if they have been successful.
A current copy of your food and trading licence, your health and safety certificate must be attached with the application.
