Plans to acquire primary care centre site in Collinstown are being progressed by HSE

PLANS for the acquisition of a Collinstown site for the North Clondalkin primary care centre are being progressed by the Health Service Executive (HSE).

Dublin Mid-West TD Mark Ward (SF) welcomed the update by the HSE following a parliamentary question around the provision of a primary health care centre on the grounds of Collinstown Community College.

“An agreement was reached in 2015 between the Department of Education and the Department of Health on a transfer of lands at Collinstown Community College,” said Deputy Ward.

“Planning permission was granted in 2018 for the construction of a two-storey primary healthcare centre and a single-storey multi-functional space. It is now 2023 and not a sod of earth has been turned on the site, despite, planning permission, the fire safety cert and the disability access certificate all being granted.”

Plans for the Rowlagh healthcare centre include a nurse-managed clinic, speech and language/ occupational and physiotherapy therapy, a dental clinic, paediatrics, GP and mental health suites.

“These are much needed services that the people of North Clondalkin are crying out for,” said Ward.

The parliamentary response said the HSE was formally advised by Department of Education (DoE) in March that updated valuation of the site in Collinstown, by the Valuation Office was conducted in October 2022.

“DoE advise this was suggested by Department of Public Expenditure & Reform in order to ‘confirm that the sale represents value for money in the circumstances prevailing’, and that the assumptions and conditions contained in the original Valuation Report were still valid,” said the HSE.

The revised valuation and acquisition figure was approved by the HSE who said formal acquisition of the site for the primary care centre will now be progressed.
