Plans to demolish former Kerry Foods, Uniphar and Cuisine de France buildings
By Aideen O'Flaherty
PERMISSION is being sought for the demolition of a number of buildings at the junction of Belgard Square North and Belgard Road in Tallaght, to include the two-storey former Uniphar factory building, the former Kerry Foods building and the former Cuisine de France warehouse.
The 16-acre site was acquired by Patrick Crean from Marlet Property Group for a reported €16m last summer, and it has the development potential for up to 1,500 apartments.
Permission is being sought to demolish the buildings on the 16-acre site
The application for the demolition works was submitted to South Dublin County Council last month by Atlas GP Ltd, which lists Patrick Crean and Paul Horn as directors, with plans for all of the existing buildings on the 6.87-hectare site to be demolished.
The proposed buildings for demolition include the two- to three-storey Belgard Square/former Kerry Foods building and the associated single-storey security hut, and the two-storey former Uniphar factory and the associated two-storey office building and single-storey security hut.
Permission is also being sought for the demolition of the Belgard House building on site, which previously housed a Cuisine de France warehouse.
Provisions for site boundary protection where required and all ancillary site works are included in the application.
Patrick Crean is also one of the directors of Crekav Trading GP Limited, who were granted permission for the development of 80 houses on a site at Finnstown in Lucan last May.
A decision on Atlas GP’s current application for the demolition works is due from South Dublin County Council by May 17.
