Portrait of Lord Lucan to be auctioned for charity Shelter
A PORTRAIT of the missing Lord Lucan will be auctioned in London by Bonhams in aid of charity Shelter.
The portrait which has a guide price of GBP £2,500 is part of the final lot of heirlooms to be auctioned off for charity.
Lady Lucan, who died last September left everything to the homeless charity Shelter.
Lady Lucan (80), was one of the last people to see Lord Lucan alive before he vanished in 1974, after he attacked her and the family's nanny Sandra Rivett was found bludgeoned to death.
John Bingham, the 7th Earl of Lucan, vanished after the murdered body of Ms Rivett, nanny to his three children, was found at the family home at 46 Lower Belgrave Street, central London, on November 7 1974.
Even though he was officially declared dead by the High Court in 1999, Lord Lucan has reportedly been sighted in Australia, Ireland, South Africa and New Zealand.
The collection for sale in October comprises 15 lots of differing items including the portrait, a backgammon trophy and a pair of Lady Lucan’s pearl and diamond earrings, guide price GBP £3,500.
