Power through to European semi finals

By Stephen Leonard

NADIA Power secured her place in tomorrow’s European Indoor Championship 800m semi finals after clocking 2:03.16 for a second place finish in her heat today in Torun, Poland.

The Templeogue woman, whose personal best time in this event is 2:00.98 which she also set in Torun last month, will now be gearing up for a return to the track tomorrow evening in pursuit of a place in the final.

Templeogue's Nadia Power has progressed to the European Indoor 800m semi finals

There was no such joy for DSD pair Síofra Cléirigh Buttner and Georgia Hartigan after they both finished fourth in their respective 800m heats at the Europeans and consequently failed to progress.

Irish record holder Cléirigh Buttner came home in a time of 2:04.47, well off her best of 2:00.58 and, while Hartigan did lead for a spell in her contest, her time of 2:04.74 was not good enough to see her through.
