Presenting….the Wonderful Walkinstown Festival 2023

THE WONDERFUL Walkinstown Festival 2023 will take place on Sunday, August 27, in Walkinstown Park on Walkinstown Avenue (across the road from Lidl).

The entertainment, which is free to everyone, will run form 12 noon to 5pm.

“Our festival is supported by Dublin City Council and organised by a committee of local residents and organisations,” said Jackie Byrne, secretary of the Wonderful Walkinstown Festival Committee.

“As with our inaugural event last year our aim is to showcase the best of our community by promoting sports clubs, talent, art and culture and voluntary groups from the area.

“Our inaugural festival last year was a huge success with the Garda estimating an attendance of over 3,000 people over the five hour event.”

Events on the day this year will include a live music stage featuring performances from local music and dance groups. Information stands for local groups and community organisations will also feature, along with sports, clowns, face painting, super heroes and other activities for kids, young and old.

“In addition to the above attractions this year we are very excited to announce that we will have The Sensory Express on site,” said Jackie.

“This is Ireland’s first transportable sensory room.

“The experience is essentially a “spa day” for neuro-divergent children and teens.

“It provides them with the opportunity to regulate sensory overload and anxiety.”

The committee launched the festival this week with representatives from some of the groups who will be participating in this year’s event, including Community Garda, GAA club St James Gaels – An Caislean, The Walkeleles and D12 Autism.
