Prize for Janus charity project

THE Cherry Orchard Janus project from Extern Charity’s was honoured with the Investing in Children (IiC) membership award.
The Janus programme works closely with young people aged 8-17, who could be a risk either to themselves or to others due to their challenging behaviour.

As a charity they help these children and teenagers in their social functioning, community inclusion and family relationship.
All project team members focus on all participants’ individual attributes and potential, and work at the young person’s pace.
They also create local school and community supports.
Overall the Cherry Orchard Janus programme works with up to 60 children and teenagers annually.
IiC, a UK-based human rights organisation for children, has now recognised the Cherry Orchard’s youth project’s work, thanks to their help for young people and families, with the award.
“We are so proud of our services and delighted that our team’s fantastic work in supporting children, young people, and their families, has been recognised in this way,” said Sarah Healy, Service Manager, Young People and Families, at Extern.
She added: “I would also like to thank all the amazing young people we work with who contributed to help us receive this significant award.”
“In Extern we know everyone deserves another chance to change their life, and we enable people to be able to contribute to the community in which they live,” explained Charlie Mack, the CEO of Extern.
“The fact that we achieved this award due to endorsements from the young people we support, means so much to us. We are privileged to work with such inspiring children, young people and families, and we are proud that they know that they can come to Extern and talk to us and that they will be listened to.
The Investing in Children Award acknowledges the importance we place on listening to young people and involving them in decision-making in relation to aspects of their care.”
