Rainne Hits The Right Notes: Kishoge CC Student tops in Tallaght’s Got Talent

Rainne Isibeal Marzo was “four and a half” when she realized she could sing, putting “random lyrics together.” Now she is the winner of ‘Tallaght’s Got Talent’, reports Ryan Butler.

The sun and the stars came out on Saturday, April 20, for the live finale of The Square’s Tallaght’s Got Talent competition, with X-Factor sensation Mary Byrne from Ballyfermot, singer-songwriter Bradley Marshall from Kingswood and karaoke king James Brown serving as judges and Ray Shah being host.

Ten finalists, whittled down from over 60 entries, competed on the day and delighted the crowd with a mix of excellent music and dance performances before the winners were announced.

A student in Kishoge Community College in Lucan, Rainne deservedly took the top spot with her Celine Dion cover, netting a €1,000 euro giftcard for the Square as the grand prize, followed in a close 2nd place by Anthony McKeown and his performance of Adele’s ‘Turning Tables’, with 3rd place going to Ella Kelly with a beautiful rendition of ‘What was I made for’ by Billie Eilish.

Before TGT, she attended singing and drama class at Lucan Westside Performing Arts from when she was four and a-half until she was ten; she stopped going during lockdown.

Up until recently, Rainne also received private online voice lessons from opera singer Rebecca Rodgers, during which she passed several LCM music exams with distinction.

She also won two Aldi singing competitions, the first being a Lucan competition that Aldi sponsored, and the second being the Aldi Community Games in 2019, where she represented Dublin in the U12s category.

Rainne was also a contestant in Ireland’s Junior Eurovision in 2020 when she was 11, and auditioned for The Voice Kids UK when she was 12, having been invited to do it twice; she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent online and was invited to audition in January 2023 in front of the judges, but cancelled the audition due to personal reasons and was invited twice.

She also performed some singing concerts every year organised by Rebecca, as well as singing at birthday parties and Filipino festivals and sang as Guest artist at the Big Sing Ireland this year.

Rainne is currently a contestant on this year’s series of the online Ivory Sessions Talent Show.

Having heard about the competition from somebody else, she was nervous going out onto the stage and was “suprised” to hear she had won.

She states that she plans to keep performing post-TGT success and would like to thank her parents for their support.

Congratulations to the winners and all who competed. Tallaght certainly does have talent!
