ReCreate awarded funding from Social Enterprise Awards

BALLYMOUNT business ReCreate was one of the awardees in the Dublin City Social Enterprise Awards 2020.
Five awardees received funding from a total pool of €50,000.

Different to previous years, it was hosted as a fully online ceremony in line with government restrictions.
In attendance was Lord Mayor of Dublin, Hazel Chu who praised the awardees “innovatively working to address inadequacies, contradictions and underlying issues within our city.”
“They are delivering change, progress and hope to individuals and communities while also bringing about economic, community and policy benefits,” said the Mayor.
ReCreate redistributes excess materials from businesses for creative reuse.
They do this by collecting unused and unwanted materials form industry and distributing them to their members as affordable art supplies.
They also design and deliver arts educational programmes that are delivered across all sectors of society and provide valuable work experience and employment opportunities to adults with additional needs or who are distant from the labour market.
The award funding will be used by Recreate to help 50 local primary schools with their creative projects while dealing with the new ways schools must operate now.
ReCreate will provide primary schools within Dublin city with free membership and a delivery of Creative Care Packages, accompanied with online Creative Consultations.
Chair of the Dublin City Social Enterprise Committee and MC of the ceremony, Mary Mac Sweeney said the awardees are “creating employment, opportunities and improvements where they are based.”
