The teenager, with an address in Tallaght had pleaded guilty to violent disorder at a location in Tallaght on November 4, 2015.

The court had heard that at 11.30pm on the above date, the injured party went to a Chinese takeaway on his bicycle. A large group of teenagers had congregated outside.

The injured party went into the takeaway with his bicycle. As he was leaving the takeaway he was jostled by the teenagers and was punched numerous times to his face and received a number of kicks to his head.

The teenager was before Judge Patricia McNamara for a probation report and for the teenager to get counselling after the incident in the lake.

Judge McNamara asked the teenager if he had got counselling.

The teenager said he had gone to see his GP and he is to go back to see him once a month.

Judge McNamara told the teenager: “You have been through a lot. You are doing very well.”

She said she would remand him to a date in June for a final report.

She told the teenager: “Hopefully we can finalise things on the next date. If the report is as good as this one, then there should be some good positive light at the end of the tunnel.”
