Rents for new cost rental homes at €1,264 per month
COST rental units in Citywest and Clondalkin were launched last week by Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien.
The 118 homes consist of 44 one- and two-bed apartments at Parklands, Citywest and 74 one- and two-bed apartments at Kilcarbery Grange, Clondalkin.
Minister O’Brien visited the Parklands development in Citywest where 44 homes have been delivered by Harcourt Developments.
The rents for these cost rental homes are set at €1,264 for two-bed apartments and €1,297 for the two-bed duplexes.
The Parklands development in Citywest is a mixed tenure development, which will comprise 1,010 homes on completion.
A significant number of homes have already been completed and have been sold to individual purchasers and first-time buyers.
O’Brien then officially launched 74 cost rental homes at Kilcarbery in Clondalkin. The homes at Kilcarbery have been delivered by the builder Adwood Developments Ltd.
The rents for these 74 homes are set at €1,025 for a one-bed apartment and €1,229 for a two-bed apartment.
All 74 properties have now been allocated to tenants eligible for cost rental accommodation using a lottery system run on Tuath’s website and are let at more than 33 per cent discount on current rental levels for the area.
Kilcarbery Grange is a new development which, upon completion, will consist of more than 1,000 ‘A’-rated energy-efficient new homes.
These 118 new-build homes have been provided in collaboration with South Dublin County Council and delivered via a combination of funding from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritages’ Cost Rental Equity Loan (CREL) scheme and the Housing Finance Agency (HFA).
Chief Executive of South Dublin County Council Daniel McLoughlin said Kilcarbery is the “largest state-supported, mixed tenure housing development in the country and is an exemplar for large-scale delivery of social and affordable homes.”
