Residents disgusted at scale of illegal dumping at 12th Lock
RESIDENTS living on the Newcastle Road in Lucan say they are disgusted at the amount of illegal dumping on a site that South Dublin County Council bought to extend the 12th Lock bridge.
Residents say that the dumping has been going on for some time and they have had enough.
Sinn Féin councillor Danny O’Brien said he could not believe the scale of the dumping problem at the site.
He told The Echo: “I was contacted by residents from the area who had concerns about the health risks with vast amount of rubbish that had been dumped at the disused building. The building was bought by SDCC a few years ago, to improve the road and bridge at the 12th lock”.
Cllr O’Brien said he had brought the issue of illegal dumping to the attention of SDCC and has asked for the site to be cleaned up.
He added: “I have also asked for the site to be made more secure it prevent it from happening again.”
