THE National Transport Authority have agreed to host additional public information meetings on the proposed review of the Dublin Bus network.

A protest against the proposals is planned by the Chapelizod Chap Lips residents group on August 25.

dublin busOver 550 people had signed a petition by the group on Monday evening in an effort to “keep their bus routes intact.”

A member of the group said residents fear the proposed changes will lead to a “reduction from six bus routes running through the village to one single bus route.”

Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh met an NTA Bus Connects project member on August 14 and was “assured they would look again at the bus connections in Chapelizod.”

Deputy Ó Snodaigh said: “That isn’t a guarantee of any change, but the more people that fill in the survey will add weight to my points yesterday.

“Not everyone can understand the new plans online. It would be much easier to have their questions answered directly by the NTA at a local meeting.”

Additional information sessions in September for the Lucan Spa Hotel (Sept 5 – 3pm to 7pm), Rathfarnham Shopping Centre (Sept 7 – 2pm to 8pm), South Dublin County Council offices Clondalkin (Sept 10 – 3pm to 7pm), Richmond Barracks (Sept 11 – 3pm to 7pm), Ballyfermot Community Civic Centre (Sept 19 – 3pm to 7pm), and Citywest Hotel (Sept 25 – 3pm to 7pm).
