
Revenue seize 10,000 contraband cigarettes in Lucan

Revenue officers seized 10,000 unstamped cigarettes in Lucan on Monday - and questioned a man and woman.
The search of a private residence in Lucan, carried out under warrant, resulted in the seizure of branded ‘NZ Gold’ cigarettes - which had originated from Belarus.

In a statement released by Revenue, a spokesperson said: "Revenue officers seized 10,000 unstamped cigarettes following a search, carried out under warrant, of a private residence in Lucan.
“The seized cigarettes, branded ‘NZ Gold’, originated in Belarus.
"A man and woman, both in their 50s, were questioned.”
According to Revenue, a separate seizure of 10,000 unstamped ‘NZ Gold’ cigarettes were seized on Tuesday in Dublin Port, with the seizures having a combined retail value of €11,000.
Revenue said that investigations are “ongoing with a view to prosecution”.
The seizure in Lucan is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal drugs and tobacco products.
