TALLAGHT’S Josh Riddell struck gold at the Hungarian Kickboxing World Cup in Budapest.
Lining out in the -63kg division, the Ljays Club competitor received a bye into the quarter finals where he overcame Patrik Sotona of the Czech Republic.
Indeed he handed his opponent an eight-count in the second round before continuing on to take the fight 3-0.
His semi final performance was just as convincing, this time dishing out two counts to his Bulgarian opponent TIhomir Nikovski before carding another 3-0 triumph and securing his place in the decider against Ukranian Mykyta Polianskyi.
Serving up some impressive combinations that resulted in a standing eight count in the first round, Riddell took the fight by TKO to secure World Cup gold.
Riddell’s brothers Jake (-71kg FC) and Zak (-57kg) were also in action at this event, the former losing out on a split decision against the experienced Stanislav Danichev of Ukraine while Zak, in his first time fighting at senior degree, also emerged on the unfavourable side of a split against Khushnudjon Kholmatov from Uzbekistan.
