Robbie Keane: “I’ve got one more adventure left in me”
Tallaght’s Robbie Keane looks set to snub any interest from League of Ireland clubs in the near future, stating today that his next move will be abroad.
The former Republic of Ireland captain has been a free-agent since last November when his contract with MLS side LA Galaxy ended.
The striker has been linked with several clubs since then, including Shamrock Rovers, Preston North End and Al Ahli who are based in Dubai.
Speaking today Keane said: I’ve got one more adventure left in me, whether that is for a year or a couple more years, and then I’ll look to get settled back home in Ireland.”
Since his time back home Keane has linked up with his former International team-mate Damien Duff who is a coach at shamrock Rovers.
Training out of the club’s recently upgraded Roadstone facility, Keane said he has had several offers, but they were not the right fit for the former Spurs man.
He said: “A lot of the leagues were nearly over so it would have been a bit pointless for me to just go for the sake of it.”
