Rocks thrown at DFB crew as they respond to bonfire

DUBLIN Fire Brigade is appealing to communities to let them do their job safely, after rocks were thrown at a crew while responding to a bonfire near Liffey Valley.
Over the weekend, a crew from Tallaght Fire Station was attending a bonfire call-out near Liffey Valley when they were pelted with rocks – which damaged a window in the cab.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday morning, Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) said: “Overnight our crews and fire engine based in Tallaght had rocks thrown at them whilst attending a bonfire call near Liffey Valley.
“We’re appealing to the community to let us do our job safely as we work to make our city safe too.”
When contacted by The Echo, a spokesperson for DFB re-iterated the importance of allowing the fire service to do its job – and to also remember the safety of the crew.
“We’re reminding everyone that our firefighters/paramedics are mums and dads too”, the spokesperson said.
“They want to go home safe to their families at the end of a shift.
“We’re not looking to spoil anyone’s fun but some dangerous fires have to be extinguished.”
