OVER 600 Easter eggs, toys and books were presented to The National Children’s Hospital in Tallaght by members of Shamrock Rovers Football Club’ first team squad and the Junior Hoops recently, after charitable Hoops fans donated the items at a recent home game against Sligo Rovers, reports Aideen O’Flaherty.

Shamrock Rovers put the call out for donations via social media ahead of the match, where they encouraged their fans to bring along an Easter egg or Easter bunny toy and to bring them to collection points before the match started.

Speaking on behalf of the club, Rovers Board Director Mark Lynch said: “What started as a nice idea on club social media developed into a massive response by Rovers fans showing their generosity and support for sick children in our local hospital on Easter weekend.

“The players fully supported the initiative and gave their time on Saturday morning after the Sligo game to bring the gifts from Tallaght Stadium to Tallaght Hospital alongside Hooperman and members of the Junior Hoops.

“This is another great example of Shamrock Rovers in the community and as we always say that Rovers is ‘#MoreThanAClub’.”
