Rovers given green light for second team
SHAMROCK Rovers’ proposed second team has been accepted into the SSE Airtricity League First Division for the 2020 season.

The Hoops saw their proposal for a B team in the second tier of Irish club soccer approved by the National League Executive Committee, a decision that was ratified by the FAI Board today.
The new outfit, to be known as Shamrock Rovers II, will provide an opportunity for some of the Tallaght club’s most promising talent to compete on the Airtricity League stage.
While many view this as a positive step for football in this country, the news has been met with opposition from other clubs who already compete in that division.
Indeed there has even been talk of legal action being taken against the league and FAI as a result of the decision and a boycott by those same sides.
