School attendance campaign launched to help bring back up pre-covid levels

A NEW attendance campaign for schools in Ballyfermot and Inchicore was launched this week in an effort to bring attendance levels back up to pre-covid levels.

Anseo! are you in? is a brand new initiative being run by the primary and secondary schools of Ballyfermot and Inchicore.

The campaign runs from January 15 until Friday, March 22.

On Friday at the Ballyfermot Family Resource Centre, Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithí de Róiste launched the scheme.

Since the pandemic closures, school attendance numbers have been critically low according to educators in the area.

Sarah Heard, HSCL Coordinator, St Ultan’s Cherry Orchard said: “Schools in the area have decided to work together in an attempt to highlight the importance of students coming to school every day that they can. Keep an eye out for the banners and posters in the area which feature artwork from pupils from all of the participating schools.”

On Friday, Mayor de Róiste launched Anseo! Are you in? at the resource centre.

The event was attended by children who designed the posters that are featured on the official banners and posters promoting the campaign.

It was attended by members of the local schools’ communities, Principals and Home School Liaison Coordinators.
