School raises over €20k for new all-weather pitch

A local school had a very successful fundraiser last weekend, to raise funds for an all-weather pitch.

St Joseph’s BNS, Clondalkin held a race-night in The Laurels Pub, Clondalkin on Friday to raise funds to convert a grass pitch at the school to an all-weather pitch.

“It was a great success, there was a really good turnout. Staff, pupils, parents, former pupils and family members of former pupils attended,” said Mr Austen Lynch, a teacher in the school.

“About 150 people attended,” he added.

“We raised over €5,000 on the night. The total money raised was in the region of €20,000, we haven’t done a final total yet as we have to deal with some expenses,” said Mr Lynch.

“We are thrilled with the amount raised, and as this was the launch night, the first night,” said Mr Lynch.

“We would like to thank the parents, the staff and everyone for turning up on the night and we would also like to thank the businesses who sponsored vouchers and raffle prizes and to The Laurels for having the race night,” said Mr Lynch.

The school hope to have another large fundraiser in the 2024/’25 school year.
