By Mary Dennehy
SOUTH DUBLIN County Council is today dealing with the aftermath of Storm Hector, which ripped up a number of trees right across local communities last night.
Strong winds hit the country last night and while Dublin wasn’t the worst hit, there are some power outages across the capital and trees down.

Here in South Dublin County, 13 fallen trees have been reported to the council alongside six trees which are in a dangerous condition and a further nine trees that have branches down.
Speaking with The Echo today, a council spokesperson said: “The council is currently dealing with reports of 13 trees which have come down in the storm, we are also dealing with reports relating to six trees which are now in a dangerous condition due to storm damage and reports of a further nine trees where branches have come down and these need to be removed.
“Work is in progress at the present time to deal with these issues.”
ESB has been working to restore power to more than 35,000 homes today, including the Templeogue area.
The company has advised people who come across fallen trees to be aware that there may be fallen wires and not to approach.
The wires could be live and extremely dangerous.
People are advised to call ESB Networks on 1850 372 999 or South Dublin County Council on 4149000.
