September Team of the Month – Castle GC’s Mixed Foursomes Team
HAVING suffered defeat in the Leinster Mixed Foursomes Final on no less than four occasions, Castle Golf Club not only finally raised the provincial crown this season, but continued on to capture the All-Ireland prize as well at Castletroy Golf Club.
Following their triumph over Fota Island in the Irish semi finals, Castle carded a thrilling 4-1 victory over Ardglass in the decider just the following day.
Co-Captain Siobhan McCarthy with Loraine Cunningham, Blanaid Nally and Anna Mellotte receive ‘The Echo Team of the Month’ Award for September on behalf of Castle Golf Club’s Mixed Foursomes Team from Thos McDermott, Co-ordinator, South Dublin County Sports Partnership (SDCSP). The Rathfarnham side started out on this journey back in March and captured the Holy Grail that was the elusive Leinster title following 5-0 wins over Waterford and Ashbourne ahead of their All-Ireland success.
“It was great to see the team win that title” said Castle Team Co-Manager Fergal Walsh.
“Together they played unbelievably well and all that hard work certainly paid off in the end.”
