Seven litter fines issued to firms in Adamstown

SEVEN litter fines have been issued by South Dublin County Council to businesses in Adamstown, one in 2018 and six so far in 2019.
The figures were revealed at the November meeting of the Lucan/Palmerstown/Fonthill area committee.

Councillor Liona O’Toole had a motion passed asking the council to monitor the area around the shops in Adamstown “for the quantity of litter in the area”.
Cllr O’Toole said she had received a report that the amount of litter in the area “is increasing all the time”. She also asked for a report on the number of litter fines issued to businesses in the area.
In their report, the council said the area is patrolled by their litter warden on a regular basis.
They added: “The litter warden has engaged with business owners in the area to inform and remind them of their obligations in respect of litter including keeping footpaths, pavements within a 100m radius of their premises litter-free, removing graffiti from their property, and not to place unauthorised advertisements or public notices in public places.”
In relation to fines to businesses in the area, the council said seven fines had been issued, one in 2018 and six so far in 2019.
