
Shop shelves bare as locals stock up
SHOP shelves are bare in many local supermarkets this evening as people stock up on essentials ahead of the 'Beast from the East'.

According to local reports, many other supermarkets are running low or are sold out of essentials, as people prepare to be snowed-in.

SuperValu in Knocklyon is also out of bread with their meat fridges and vegetable section near to empty. However, they did get an 'emergency' delivery of milk earlier, so were stocked on the dairy front - for the moment.

The 'Beast from the East' could see the country's biggest snowfall since 1982, with expectations of another 'big snow' fuelling today's supermarket dash.
Met Eireann today (Monday) issued a Status Orange weather warning for the east of the country from Tuesday into Wednesday morning – with a nationwide Status Yellow Weather Advisory to remain in place until at least Saturday.
Thursday and Friday are expected to be the worst days with heavy snowfall and low visibility on roads.
