Six: Teen Edition: A musical tale of Henry viii and his six wives
The talented cast and crew associated with Coláiste Bríde are delighted to offer their production of Six: Teen Edition, reports Ryan Butler.
This musical narrates the wives of Henry VIII in a way that has never been heard before.
Vibrant pop music that is sure to get everyone dancing is used to tell their story. The school’s TY staff members and students are working extremely hard, and are eager to share this tale with the world.
According to director Una McArdle, they decided on the musical being ‘Six’ as it is “fun and upbeat” and it “has a great message” that women should unite and work together rather than compete against each other.
Work on the musical began when the main team met and discussed the possibility of doing a musical back in January 2023.
Once ‘Six’ was settled on, the rights were sought, lighting and sound were booked, and the roles were assigned within the team.
Rehearsals started once school started in August, with some students having already submitted video rehearsals.
They were set up during school hours and after school for over four hours a week.
As well as starring in the production, students have also been involved in the “production side of things,” organising the programme, sourcing ads, fundraising, and running the musical’s social media accounts.
They also helped to create the costumes and design the stage.
Una would like to thank the staff, the community at large, the school’s principal, Louise Ronan, the senior leadership team under the direction of Elaine Lawlor, the production team made up of Jacqueline Wall, Dee Lumsden, Emma Carrick, Courtney Long, John Kearns, Nikita O’Reilly, Rob Barry, Eamonn Flynn, Claire Glynn, and herself.
The show will be performed from January 17 to 19. Doors open at 6.30pm and the show starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are selling fast, so get one now and don’t miss out.
