SOCIAL Entrepreneurs from Tallaght and Clondalkin are among the 17 finalists announced for the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Awards 2018.
David Keegan, from Millbrook Lawns, Tallaght, was picked for his project, First Fortnight - a grassroots voluntarily led social enterprise focused on eradicating mental health stigma through cultural action.
David said he was “truly honoured and humbled to be considered amongst Ireland’s most passionate social change makers - looking forward to learning more about their fantastic work.”
Angela Smith from Clondalkin, and Sonya Lennon from Fairview, are finalists due to their project, Dress for Success Dublin – which empowers women to secure and maintain meaningful and sustainable employment.
Sonya said: “We are delighted to be chosen as finalists. Every day spent with SEI and the other amazing finalists creates opportunities through networking, phenomenal brainpower and the desire to embed positive sustainable social impact.”
Up to eight finalists will go on to receive an initial €200,000 in funding and support for their projects with potential for further investment and development opportunities.
The programme offers critical funding and mentorship opportunities.
