

Social welfare offices show drop of 900 signing on

THERE was a decrease of 902 in the numbers signing on the live register in September in the four social welfare offices in Tallaght, Nutgrove, Clondalkin and Ballyfermot.
In Tallaght, the total signing on fell from 5,344 in August to 4,994 in September, a decrease of 350.

Among the under-25s there was a decrease of 21 with 705 signing on in August and 684 signing on in September.
In Nutgrove, there was a fall of 195 with 2,376 signing on in August and 2,181 signing on in September.
Among the under-25s, there was a drop of 29 with 138 signing on in August and 109 signing on in September.
In Ballyfermot, there was a decrease of 89 with 1,710 signing on in August and 1,621 signing on in September.
Among the under-25s there was a decrease of 21 with 265 signing on in August and 244 in September.
In Clondalkin, there was a drop of 268 with 3,528 signing on in August and 3,260 signing on in September.

Among the under-25s, the numbers were down by 14, with 398 signing on in August and 384 signing on in September.
Nationally, on a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register total recorded a monthly decrease of 200 (-0.1 per cent) in September 2019, bringing the seasonally adjusted total to 188,800. The number of persons on the Live Register in September 2019 is the lowest number recorded in the seasonally adjusted series since February 2008.
In unadjusted terms there were 183,783 persons signing on the Live Register in September 2019. This represents an annual decrease of 21,947 (-10.7 per cent) since September 2018.
On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register showed a monthly increase of 200 (+0.2 per cent) for males in September 2019, while females decreased by 400 (-0.5 per cent) over the same period.
