Specsavers focuses on helping Men’s Shed

SPECSAVERS Clondalkin presented a cheque this week to support the local Men’s Shed.

The fund of €450 will allow the recently established Clondalkin Mens Shed to purchase new tools and engage in local community projects.

After a long struggle to find a premises, Clondalkin Men’s Shed officially opened in April, and are located at St Patrick’s Park.

Registered with the national Men’s Sheds organisation, the group provide training opportunities for men to learn new skills and are open to new members of all backgrounds.

Specsavers Clondalkin Store Director Emma Conroy said: “We are passionate about giving back to and working with our local community and support a variety of causes.

“Untreated hearing loss can lead to social isolation so we were delighted to sponsor the Clondalkin Men’s Sheds, which provides a safe, friendly and inclusive environment where men can work on meaningful projects together.”

Frank Cousins, President of Clondalkin Men’s Shed said: “We are extremely grateful to Specsavers Clondalkin for their contribution. We rely heavily on fundraising and

donations and without the generosity and support of businesses such as Specsavers, we would be unable to provide this vital community service.”

Specsavers provides a professional healthcare service. Its store is equipped with digital retinal photography and also offers a comprehensive audiological service, with a clinic open every day, and late Thursday evenings. All hearing screenings are free.
