SPECULATION has been rife about the status of The Speaker Conolly and The Echo understands that a well-known local developer is in the process of acquiring the landmark pub.

Owners of the establishment, the Murphy family, have reached an agreement in principle with a developer subject to planning approval for a mixed-usage development, it is understood.
