KATE Frost’s great start to a year that saw her land her first National Senior Women’s Singles title got a whole lot better when she was selected for the Ireland Senior Badminton squad.
THERE was plenty of medal success of every colour for Lucan Harriers AC, Brothers Pearse, Donore Harriers and DSD at the National Indoor Championships.

FOLLOWING a tremendous National League campaign that resulted in promotion to the Super League ranks for the very first time, Abbey Seals Dublin Lions were declared The Echo Team of the Month for April.
IT WAS double delight for Glenanne Hockey Club as they landed both the Railway and Intermediate Cups.
TEMPLEOGUE Basketball Club’s Under 14 Boys team captured the All-Ireland Club Championship crown after they beat Corrib 45-29.
TALLAGHT RFC made it third time successful as they edged out Seapoint 12-13 to claim the Metro League Division Seven title and a week later completed the double when they won the John Madden Cup.
MEANWHILE on the international front both Terenure College’s Billy Dardis and Terry Kennedy of St Mary’s College played their part in seeing Ireland Men’s 7s to the World Rugby Sevens Series qualifier in Hong Kong.
TEMPLEOGUE finally got their hands on the Men’s Champions Trophy following a 77-62 victory over Belfast while in the same week their own Jason Killeen along with Joshua Wilson and Stefan Zecevic were named in the Division One Basketball All-Star team.

TALLAGHT Martial Arts fight team medalled in three different tournaments, the Austrian Classics WAKO World Cup, the Battle of the North and the B-Elite Open Tournament, across a single weekend.
FOUR first-half goals saw Three Rock Rovers win their first Irish Junior Hockey Cup since 1998.
In the hurling Féile, Lucan Sarsfields put up an impressive display against Kilmacud Crokes to lift the coveted Division One prize as Good Counsel beat St Mark’s to the Division Five title.

SOUTH Dublin Taekwondo’s international squad was joined by a development team at the 2019 Sofia Open with Lisabeth Mahesh, Eoin Rosalesm, Anna Mahesh, Kate McGovern and Jack Woolley all medalling while Shauna Farrell scooped gold in the Children -40kg, her sister Lauren claimed silver and Emma Cahill fought to her first G1 event gold, also being named The Echo Sports Star of the Month for April.

FORMER Cherry Orchard forward Ben Quinn took his first step into the big time after penning a pre-contract that committed him to Celtic Football Club for three years.
DRIMNAGH Boxing Club took their All-Ireland title tally to six for the year after Jamie Collin and Aaron Keogh enjoyed Boy One success with Kai Griffin going all the way in the Boy Two ranks.
TEMPLEOGUE Tennis Club played host to 515 entries from all over Ireland as well as Romania, Moldova, Spain and China among others for the National Junior Open.

DONORE Harriers had a tremendous outing at the National Road Relay Championships as the club recorded a first-ever win for their Senior Women’s team, another team gold in the Masters Men’s division, and a superb runner-up finish for their Senior Men.
ST MARY’S College Under 20s lifted the Purcell Cup in convincing fashion after they beat Wesley College 28-9 in the final.
