St Anne’s Fun Run
OVER €1,000 was raised for Down Syndrome Ireland as a result of a fun run by the members of St Anne’s GAA Club in Bohernabreena last Saturday.
Over 165 people raced on the day, with Shay Frawley being the first runner over the finish line at the uplifting event.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the club hadn’t counted the final tally of the amount raised but told The Echo it was “just over €1,000”.
Glenda Murphy Smullen from St Anne’s told The Echo: “The fun run was great, it was very lively and friendly.
“It was a good bonding experience for the club – and it was quite competitive for a fun run!”

This is the latest fundraising initiative for Down Syndrome Ireland that the club has undertaken, with club member and GAA for Mothers and Others player Emma O’Donnell being instrumental in organising it.
Emma’s daughter Isla has Down Syndrome and plays for the St Anne’s GAA Superstars team for children with additional needs, and Emma previously held a fundraiser for Down Syndrome Ireland last year.
Glenda added: “The fun run was amazing, and it was all for a great cause.
“Everyone in St Anne’s is delighted to have such a positive impact in the community and to raise money for a charity that’s so close to home with our Superstars.”
