Star CEO Sunniva ‘was great, we are going to miss her’
A CELEBRATION was held this week to mark the retirement of Sunniva Finlay, CEO of Ballyfermot Star.
Ms Finlay was with the organisation for 20 years, and will be a difficult person to replace, according to colleagues and people who met her through work.
However, the good news for the area is that Ms Finlay will stay on in some capacity, due to her commitment to various community projects.
Staff and members of other organisations Ballyfermot Star link in with via their work as a community response to drug use, met up for a goodbye ceremony on Friday at Realt Nua, Park West.
“There was a great turnout, she got a great reception from the Lord Mayor and Dublin City Council,” said Olive Casey, manager in childcare with Ballyfermot Star.
“We had people there from the likes of Saoirse, and other organisations that we’d work with.
Sunniva will stay connected with the area, and is on the committee for the Cherry Orchard development group.”
Another staff member Kathleen, said Sunniva “was great, we are really going to miss her”.
“A Facebook post by the organisation said: “All the staff at Ballyfermot STAR CLG would like to wish our CEO Sunniva Finlay all the best in your upcoming future.
“You have contributed most of your life to the people of Ballyfermot. You leave behind such a legacy.”
The Star have since confirmed the appointment of Dr Laura O’Reilly as the new CEO Ballyfermot STAR CLG.
