Street party organiser has to pay €300 to charity to avoid a conviction
THE ORGANISER of a Clondalkin street party that overran until past 3am has ended up before Blanchardstown District Court.
George Graham will have to pay €300 to charity to avoid a conviction.
Graham, aged 43, with an address at Westbourne Green, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to public drunkenness and breaching the peace at Westbourne Green on June 11, 2017.
Sergeant Geraldine McManigan told Judge David McHugh that at 3.45am on June 11 last, a street party was being held on Westbourne Green and part of the road was blocked off with barriers and there was a dj stage.
Sgt McManigan said the gardai asked Graham to clean up the road.
She said some residents had been unable to get to sleep.
Sgt McManigan said Graham became abusive and was arrested.
She said he had one previous conviction from December 21, 2014, for public drunkenness.
Graham said he agreed with one of the charges but didn’t agree with another one of them.
“I wasn’t happy with the way the gardai dealt with it. It was a street party for the community. It did run too late.”
Judge McHugh told Graham that he could not have it on both sides of the fence. He told Graham that he was entitled to fight the case if he wanted to. Graham said he was pleading guilty.
Judge McHugh said he would strike out the case if Graham pays €300 to Blanchardstown Hospice. He remanded Graham to a date in February for payment of the donation.
